Coaching

is a practice that supports individuals

in setting and meeting their goals.

It is distinct from other forms of support

such as consulting, mentoring and counseling.

Coaching is rooted in the belief that

the individual has the answers within themselves.

The coach is supporting them

to get to a point of clarity and alignment

through meaningful conversations.

What does the exploration session entail?

During the exploration session, I will answer your questions about coaching.
You are invited to share what brought you to this session and together we can decide if we would like to have some coaching sessions together. There is absolutely no commitment to continue with me after this session.

What happens during a coaching session?

We will start by specifying the goals you have for that particular coaching session.

Then I will ask you a series of questions for you to reflect on your values and actions and to explore your intentions towards your goals. I will not give you advice or tell you what to do. I trust that through your reflection, you will gain clarity on what action you want to take next.

We will wrap-up by specifying what kind of support you would like in order to stay accountable to your action items.

At the beginning of the following session, we will check-in on your progress, before moving on to set new goals, and thus repeat this cycle.

My qualifications

I have graduated from Higher Ed Coach Training, an Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) with the International Coaching Federation.

I have completed a Level 2 program with over 125 hours of instruction and additional requirements. I have over 100 hours of practice.

In 2024, I aim to take the knowledge exam to become an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation.

My experience

I have practiced coaching clients from a range of career stages and paths: early-career researchers (Master's students, Ph.D. students, Postdoctoral Fellows), mid-career academics (Tenure-track Professors), educational developers and senior academic leaders, as well as professionals from outside academia. We have coached on topics ranging from productivity and career planning to increased self-awareness and exploration of values and strengths.

My clients come from diverse cultural and geographical backgrounds (Eastern Asia, Central and Western Europe, Eastern North America) and my working hours are carefully chosen to accommodate them all.

My approach

As a Member of the International Coaching Federation, I maintain the ethics and standards of behaviour established by the International Coaching Federation.

Influenced by my professional experience and research background on employee motivation, I draw from the Self-Determination Theory of motivation to support you in identifying what motivates you and in determining how you can put in place the structures that support you in staying motivated to meet your goals.
